A place of hope and help for animals in Allegan County.
The Allegan County Animal Shelter is managed and operated by Wishbone Pet Rescue Alliance. Visit the official website at www.alleganshelter.org.
Located just north of downtown Allegan, the shelter is in the middle of one of the largest counties geographically in Michigan. At any given time, we care for 30 or more dogs and puppies, and approximately 50 cats and kittens.
In keeping with our goal helping as many animals to LIVE and making the shelter a place of HOPE, we have significantly decreased euthanizations at the shelter.
We have expanded our medical program for health and vaccinations of the animals at the shelter through Wishbone and county donation support. We’ve equipped the shelter’s operating room with grant money from the Department of Agriculture and Wishbone donations. We now have Wishbone vet come to the shelter one day a week for exams and to perform spay/neuter surgeries. We’ve built outside exercise dog pens with donation money given to the county for the shelter.
We’ve also expanded the general operations of the shelter, hiring more staff and adding evening hours one day week and Saturday hours. Click here for the location and hours of the Allegan County Animal Shelter operated by Wishbone.
